For many New Yorkers, the city’s subways are the performance spaces they encounter most often. Everyday, dancers and musicians put on a subterranean revue that uses mass transit as a stage. In recent years, this moving festival has included “Subway Mania,” an homage to one of professional wrestling’s most popular period: the late 1990s to early 2000. The scene caught the attention of Shyama Venkateswar, 57, who was on her way home to Forest Hills, Queens. Her sons, now young adults, had watched World Wrestling Entertainment shows growing up, she said, so she followed the wrestlers aboard the train and abandoned her trip home.

“Chrissie Evert commented on my serve,” Mrs. Wiggins said in the living room of her brownstone, where she and Mr. Astor, 59, were seated next to a crackling fire. “She said it looks like her serve.”Part of the accounts’ charm lies in her indifference to social media. Mrs. Wiggins, who was raised in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, met him when she was in her early 30s, and they were married for 61 years. “When my husband died, I was totally devastated,” Mrs. Wiggins said. “My whole life was him.” Referring to her social media accounts, she added, “My son started this, because he thought it would take my mind off the grief.”

During one scene in the new video game, Parker and his flame, MJ Watson, return to Aunt May's house in Forest Hills. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe game's developer, Insomniac, thankfully gave us a hand in figuring out what kind of loan Peter is facing. Angelo Gionis, senior vice president at Contour Mortgage, told Insider that while he wouldn't say it was a super deal, Spider-Man's mortgage was fair — if it was actually a second mortgage Aunt May took out.

When the war was over, Ms. Yamamoto said, she was given a bus ticket to travel to any location she wanted. Her work has been shown most recently at the Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum and at the Leonovich Gallery. After living in Greenwich Village for about five decades, Ms. Yamamoto moved to a nursing home in Forest Hills, Queens, last winter. There was a time when I used to think too much late at night, like my mind was working too much. ORDINARY MORNING I wash my face, put on clothes — you know, the ordinary things.

A New York City house with Spider-Man's address is for sale for $2.1 million. With 4 beds and 3.5 baths, it's a far shot from Peter Parker's working class upbringing in the comics. 20 Ingram Street in Forest Hills, Queens — the home of the fictional family of Spidey, Aunt May, and Uncle Ben — is currently listed on StreetEasy. "As soon as the comic book identified 20 Ingram as the Spider-Man house, they became flooded," Gigi Malek, the realtor who listed the house, told ABC 7. Now, the home is ready for new owners to take on the task of fielding Spider-Man's mail.
When her landlord raised her rent by $200 last February, Theresa Handwerk saw the writing on the wall. Ms. Handwerk, 51, had been paying $1,450 a month — “pandemic rent,” she called it — for a studio on the East Side of Manhattan. “I knew there was no way I would be able to stay in New York if I didn’t buy,” she said. If she was going to buy, she wanted a more reasonable commute that didn’t involve relying on the Long Island Rail Road or Metro-North. “As a lifelong single woman, the financial and social inequalities compared to married couples are glaring,” Ms. Handwerk said.

The Florida Democratic Party noted it has had a Municipal Victory Program since 2016 that includes efforts to fundraise and help school board candidates. Historically, it hasn’t taken a lot of cash to influence school board races, which are generally nonpartisan and often draw low voter turnout. In a 2018 survey, just 9 percent of school board officials reported spending more than $5,000. “What Ron DeSantis is doing in Florida — supporting a bunch of these school board candidates — is really smart, because the No. Some of the liberal efforts to push back against conservatives in school board races are well established.
